Oprah Winfrey’s blazing carrier scaled a new height today when it was announced that she was accepted in on the prestigious Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

From being the first black female news anchor at Nashville’s WLAC-TV back in 1975, to having her own production company and a leading TV show. As child Oprah lived in poverty, and she said in one interview that she didn’t want to be a mother because she had not been mothered well. Winfrey had not forgotten her roots and she generously used her wealth to help others and she has been ranked the greatest black philanthropist in American history.

Winfrey is now officially worth $4 billion and, according to Bloomberg, the greatest contribution to her wealth comes from her association with Weight Watchers International Inc. Since she joined the company company’s stock market valuation more than doubled.

Winfrey is well known entrepreneur and she runs several businesses, like the “Oprah Winfrey Show”, her own cable network OWN, not to mention her association with Apple.

Winfrey’s influence goes far beyond show business and it was estimated that in 2008 her endorsement of former President Barack Obama brought him not less than one million votes. Obama returned the favor in a kind by awarding Winfrey with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

After the last US elections she was nominated to run for presidency in the next election. But Winfrey put to the rest any lingering expectations during Jimmy Kimmmel Live show, by saying: “Where do I look into the camera? I am definitely not running for president,” and “I am the kind of person who tries to listen to signs. I think, well am I supposed to run the country? I don’t think so.”

On the Bloomberg’s Index, Winfrey is among 65 other women and she is one of six female entrepreneurs. Top of the list is still occupied by Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon.
